How to cook Sour ghalieh stew

In the south of Iran, they know stew as “Ghalieh”. Ghalieh is a name of stew in south of Iran but we have ghalieh in another side of Iran. Sour ghalieh is one of the best persian cooking recipes in Lorestan. It has different and fantastic taste.


  • Lamb meat 500 gr
  • 1 chopped onion
  • 1 cup of pomegranate water
  • 2 tablespoon pomegranate paste
  • 4 potatoes
  • Salt, black pepper, turmeric


Step 1

Boil potatoes with water and salt. Chop meat like cubes and boil them by 7 glass of water and a few salt. Get the potatoes peel after they become cooked and grate them and add to cooked meat.

Step 2

Then add salt, pepper, turmeric, pomegranate juice and fried onion and mix them. Let them ripe on the low heat. The color of this food is dark brown.

Step 3

You can use pomegranate paste and a few sour lemon juice instead of pomegranate juice.
